Songmap

by Pandora

Songmap is a Pandora companion app that allows users to “drop” songs in real-world geolocations, explore location-specific playlists, engage with one another, and map out routes according to user, genre, or song.

While other cloud based streaming apps have introduced features that allow the user to discover new music and interact with other users, Pandora has rarely added new features.

As a result, over the past three years Pandora has lost users to other music streaming services.

Customizing Song Drops

After pressing the “+” button to drop a song on the map, users can customize their drops by adding a color, tags, and captions or notes.

Profiles

The user’s profile displays songs they’ve dropped and interacted with along with stats on their dropped songs.

When viewing other users’ profiles, all the songs that they’ve dropped are displayed.

Out of Home Ads

These ads were designed to mimic the experience of finding a dropped song in the Songmap app, but for those who don’t have the app yet. Scanning the QR code takes the user to the song that is matched to the ad.
